From: "Ed Payne" Date: February 4, 2009 8:16:15 PM EST To: "Ed Payne" Subject: I-LYA Email Notification: Request and Announcement Good evening, all! Ê Monday, February 2, I had the opportunity to attend a meeting held at the Port Clinton City Hall. This meeting announced development plans of a fantastic event for Lake Erie. WeÕll have much more on this as the event comes together, but IÕll tell you to save time for Labor Day weekend 2009!! Ê As of this writing, I-LYA is no different than any other organization around. We are being hit by the economy, and hit hard. Ê We will persevere, with your help. Ê As we stated earlier, we have announced the new Sail Committee. This is now a 4 person Committee. December 2009 will see the first election to this Committee during the Senior Sail Committee. In the meantime, please understand the committee members are volunteers. As such, they need your help and understanding. 2009 will be a learning, growing year for all, to be sure. Ê The greatest thing about making a change is gaining acceptance of the change. In business, it is constantly a case of change-for-change sake. This is not a good thing. If it isnÕt broke, it shouldnÕt be fixed. Well, our Sail program was not living up to expectations. Not through any lack of effort on previous chairs, quite the contrary, as a matter of fact. The overview, quite simply, is there was just too much to do and oversee without this 4 person committee. Ê Another great thing about this committee is it is expected to promote more involvement from participants. Indeed, there have been suggestions from several sources currently listed for consideration. Ê For those who have not already, our Yearbook ads are accepted until March 1, 2009. After that, weÕll be in compilation and press mode. Our desire is to present the Yearbook following the Dinner at the Spring Meeting, and on the Sunday morning following. Delegates should plan on attending the dinner, or at least staying until after the dinner, to pick up their Club Yearbook allocation. Should we not get enough ads, the number of yearbooks printed will need to be decreased, as we must meet financials. IÕm sure all understand this situation. So, PLEASE, get your ads presented. The form is attached. Ê So, all-in-all, weÕll have much to discuss at our Spring Meeting, which will be held at the Holiday Inn French Quarter, in Perrysburg, Ohio, April 3 and 4. Watch our website, http://www.i-lya.com for the meeting information. Ê Thanks, all!! Ê Ed Payne 2009 I-LYA Commodore
